It started with a stack of paper
It began with paper cards. Coloured paper, paper clips, a stack on the table — and words I had to learn. That stack is still at my place.
The stack on the table
Here they are. Pink, green and yellow scraps, bundles held with clips, words written by hand. There are German ones among them too. The pile is still at my place — by now simply as a memento.
What I tried
Everything I tried was either too complicated or asked for a credit card at sign-up. Anyone who has ended up in another country will understand me.
What came out of it
TeachIt is that same stack of cards, except it remembers on its own what to show today. You open a link in the browser: there is nothing to install. A card can be written by hand or generated from a text or a photo of a textbook page — the service will build it and add a picture where it fits. And while you study, any side can be read out loud.
What it costs
This is not a business, and it does not pay for itself. The money goes to the server and to paying for that same generation. If TeachIt has saved you an evening of cutting paper, you can support it.
